Tash & Mitch Got Hitched.
A handful of Tash and Mitch’s closest family witnessed something remarkable at Montsalvat in Eltham one Melbourne winter’s day. In front of their beloved in a little old bluestone chapel, Tash and Mitch made their commitment to each other official. They got married.
The grounds and buildings of Montsalvat provided the perfect backdrop to Tash and Mitch’s dark elopement. Tash’s stunning black dress and Mitch’s red velvet jacket set the tone for a wedding that photographers only dream about.
It was a short and intimate ceremony just past midday. The couple’s daughter led the way down the aisle with her bubble gun, taking aim at guests along the way. The couple’s choice of song for the entrance: ‘Lovecats’ by The Cure.
They made the chapel their home for this brief time and were surrounded by the warmth of their loved ones in an emotional celebration of love, loss, determination and renewal. There is no other way to describe their amazing sense of style apart from saying it was just ‘them.’ Everything inside that chapel spoke of their personalities – the copper arch hand-made by Mitch, the absolutely stunning flower creations by Tash’s stepmother and the cow hide on which they stood during the ceremony was beautifully put together. Their fierce loyalty, trust and friendship between each other was clear to all. The kind words and love imparted by their guests shows how much they too are adored by those nearest to them. A small room filled with mighty hearts.
Afterwards, we went to Fitzroy for a drink before heading into the city for some photographs. Tash and Mitch received many well wishes from random passers-by and were even serenaded by an opera singer on the steps of Flinders Street Station before they disappeared into the night.
‘Tash marches to the beat of her own drum,’ said the father of the bride, and these words couldn’t be more perfect. These two represented everything I ever look for in a couple; truth, beauty, freedom and love. And they are also ridiculously funny. What a gift it was to photograph Tash and Mitch’s elopement. They are an extraordinary couple who I can only say wonderful things about, and I am so proud to share these photos of their wedding day.
To Tash and Mitch, I wish you and your little family the world of happiness as you continue on your journey. Thank you for being so rad. Pals forever.
Love, Sarah xo
